Crime Rate Definitions

Aggravated assault unlawful attack upon another for purpose of inflicting serious injury.
Arson willful or malicious burning or attempt to burn a houseing, building, or other personal property.
Burglary unlawful entry of a structure to commit a felony or theft.
California crime index group of serious offenses including willful homicide, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and motor vehicle theft.
FBI crime index group of crimes including homicide, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft.
Forcible rape carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will.
Larceny-theft unlawful taking of another's property.
Motor vehicle theft theft or attempted theft of motor vehicle.
Property crimes crimes against property, including burglary and motor vehicle theft.
Robbery taking or attempting to take anything of value by force or threat of force or violence.
Violent crimes crimes against people, including homicide, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.
Willful homicide willful killing of one human by another, including negligent manslaughter.
