About this site

This site is intended for educational and policy making audiences. It contains U.S., state, and county COVID-19 cases and deaths and associated metrics since Jan. 22, 2020.
Joe Nation, Ph.D., a former state legislator and current university professor, created this site.  Glitz Technology provided technical support.

Data and Methodology

The primary data source for this website is the COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University

Demographic data are from these databases:
State & County Resident Population by Multi-race/Ethnicity and Age Group
Current Population Density
State, County, and City Land and Water Area

As indicated in the Glossary, some categories require simple calculations, e.g., Cases per 100,000 population equals the number of reported cases on a given date divided by the estimated April 1, 2020 population.
