This database contains General Fund revenues and expenditures for large Texas cities for which budget data are available. It also contains per capita revenues and expenditures, based on population data provided by the U.S. Bureau of the Census. Budget data reflect federal Fiscal Years, which run from Oct. 1–Sept. 30.  Population data reflect that recorded on July 1 of each Fiscal Year.

Data reflect unaudited figures from annual Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFRs).  Most of the cities that report these revenue and expenditure data use a modified accural basis, rather than a cash basis.  These figures typically are similar to, but not identical to figures reported in annual budget documents.  Expenditures may exceed revenues because other financing sources, such as tax-supported debt, are not included as total expenditures.  Finally, note that some cities report combined Police and Fire as Public Safety. In cases where both Police and Fire are reported, Public Safety is the sum of these two categories. Data are reported in dollars.

2015 Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFRs) for Brownsville, Grand Pairie, Killeen, Mcallen and Tyler were not available for the most recent update.
