This database presents private employment in health service industries based on surveys from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Data do not include government employment in the health services industry.  Estimates for the past two months of the current year are preliminary for most employment categories. 

  • Health Care and Social Assistance is the broadest measure and reflects the sum of Health Care and Social Assistance categories.
  • Health Care contains three sub-categories: Ambulatory Health care Services, Hospitals, and Nursing and Residential Care Facilities.
  • Ambulatory Health Care Services contains Offices of Physicians, Outpatient Care Centers, and Home Health Care Services, and other categories that are not listed.    
  • Nursing and Residential Care Facilities contains Nursing Facilities and other categories that are not listed.
  • Social Assistance contains Child Day Care Services and other categories that are not listed.
