Summary: Health insurance in US, states, counties by demographic, other characteristics
Name | Health Insurance in States and Counties |
Summary | Health insurance in US, states, counties by demographic, other characteristics |
Additional Background | This database contains health insurance coverage for the U.S., states, and roughly 900 counties. (Areas with less than 65,000 population are excluded.) Coverage and non-coverage is broken down by age, gender, race/ethnicity, households, nativity/citizenship, disability, educational attainment, employment, work experience, household income, and poverty status. Data are collected through the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey 1-Year Estimates. Additional information on that survey is available from the U.S. Bureau of the Census. According to the Census Bureau, values reported are based on a sample and are subject to sampling variability. The degree of uncertainty is represented through the use of a Margin Of Error (MOE) of 90 percent. This can be interpreted as providing a 90 percent probability that the interval defined by the estimate minus the margin of error and the estimate plus the margin of error (the lower and upper confidence bounds) contains the true value.
Identified counties reflect July 2015 Office of Management and Budget (OMB) delineations of metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas. However, in certain instances the names and boundaries may differ from the OMB delineations due to changes over time.
