This database replaces an earlier version with the same name, adding health insurance data for cities, zip codes, and Census Tracts.  Data include population and the number and percentage of insured and uninsured persons by age, gender, race, ethnicity, household, disability, education, employment, and poverty status.  Data are based on American Community Survey (ACS) 5-Year Estimates. See here for additional information on the ACS.  Zip codes reported reflect Zip Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTA), which are in some cases slightly different from Zip Codes used by the U.S. Postal Service.  For additional information on ZCTAs, see here.  Data are not available for all search combinations.

Values reflect ACS estimates, and Margins of Error reflect a 90 percent confidence level. This provides a 90% probability that the interval defined by the estimate minus the margin of error and the estimate plus the Margin of Error (the lower and upper confidence bounds) contains the true value.  For example, an estimated Percent Insured of 90.2% with a 0.6% Margin of Error indicates a 90% probability that the true value is 90.2% +/- 0.6%, or 89.6%-90.8%.

Mapping is currently available for states, counties, cities, and zip codes.  We will be adding mapping functions for cities and Census Tracts later in July.  In the interim, users can access Census Tract maps by state and county in PDF here.
