Mortality by Cause, Gender, and Age (CA only) (Archives, 1989-2012)

This database contains the number of deaths according to the deceased's gender and age, race, and/or cause of death. See cause of death background for additional information on causes of death and cause of death group numbers from the International Classification of Diseases.  

The California Department of Public Health recently imposed use restrictions that effectively prohibit the use of mortality data; as such, this database will no longer be updated.  Users should access Deaths and Death Rates by Cause and similar databases that contain mortality data for most U.S. counties, including the number of deaths, death rates, population, and age adjusted death rates.
